Welcome my friends.
I’m hearing a lot of discussion since this past election from people who are unhappy with a electoral system that allows a minority vote to create a majority government.
The chances of one of the three major parties embracing electoral reform are slight as it would make it more difficult for them to achieve POWER. Electoral reform (proportional representation) encourages conciliation and cooperation rather than power. This means change, and change can be difficult and fearful.
It takes courage to affect change. Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to face the fear and proceed in spite of it.
“Be the change you want to see in the world,” Mahatma Gandhi taught.
Would you like to be involved in making a change?
Only one party in Canada has electoral reform as part of their platform, the Green Party.
Yukon now has the Yukon Green Party (YGP) involved in territorial politics. Your support and input is welcome.
The Yukon Green Party is run by the members, not dictated by the executive. Greens prefer conciliation and cooperation rather than power.

I found the information contained in the following websites helpful in providing some information on electoral reform, preferential balloting and proportional representation. Perhaps you will as well.

Just for clarification, this is written from my personal perspective and not as a representative of the Yukon Green Party.
