Book Signing at Ten Old Books

Just a quick note to let you know that I’m having a book signing at Ten Old Books in Duncan, BC

  • Date: August 30, 2014
  • Time: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Today’s world is fraught with environmental disasters, both natural and man-made. Climate change is a hotly contested subject, depending on whether one is focused on the economy or the environment. We can, I believe, all agree that at the present time we need the extraction of mineral and fossil fuel resources, because of the way our society has evolved. How much to the multi-national corporations actually control our governments?

Fracking and the methods used for reaching and withdrawing the minerals, coal, oil and gas from the earth can be damaging to the watersheds and have the potential to affect air quality.

All this raises some questions:

  • Can we mitigate the damage done during that extraction?
  • Should actual demand control the extraction of those resources, or the corporate bottom line?
  • Should we be placing our emphasis on finding cleaner, more sustainable sources of energy?
  • Is there affordable ways to provide the energy we need without causing environmental catastrophe?
  • Just how much power should corporations hold in the governing of our country?

I am pleased that this novel has caused discussion of these important matters. In From Thine Own Well, Canada has been affected by all these things. Corporate rule is the law of the day, watersheds have been sullied and citizens have lost their rights.

Read the book and join in the discussion.

Looking forward to meeting you. Let your friends in the Cowichan Valley know about this. I’d love to meet them as well.
