Winter Walk, Yukon – A Poem

sunrise1633_blogI can’t bend my fingers
And can’t feel my toes
The burn on my cheeks
Just the frostbitten know

It’s a bright sunny day
Why walk? God knows
In Yukon, in winter
Light still comes with cold

And now that I’m warm
Safe and comfy indoors
I gaze out the window
And think, just once more

Like the mothers that bear us
Our memory fades
Or, like those Madonnas
Our fears would pervade

So, jump up my brother
My sister, my friend
Then on with your coats
And we’ll head out again.
